Iohannes Caioni The humanist polyhistor

Becoming abbotof the Franciscan monastery of Călugăreni in 1666, the monk Johannes Caioni is founder of a printing press, of a library including over 4,000 volumes (some of which are preserved today in Şumuleu Ciuc), musician, composer and translator, organ builder, co-author of the Codex Caioni. His Organo Missale, a collection of litanies, masses, antiphonies and other ecclesiastic songs saw the light of day here, at Călugăreni in 1667.

Dr. Nyulas Ferenc

Ferenc Nyulas (1758–1806), chemist, botanist, and pharmacist, was noted for his contributions to the successful campaigns against the plague in 1795 that affected 50 villages in the Szolnok district of Transylvania. He published several books and pamphlets to help the treatment of scurvy, goiter, and smallpox. He was appointed provincial protomedicus and head of the surgical lyceum.

Hungarian historian, living in Germany. He is the author of the latest monograph of Eremitu.

She was born in Eremitu. After she became an actress, she used to work at several theatres. Nowadays she is a member of the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj.
